Global Energy Up is an independent certification body for management systems and a validation and verification body for greenhouse-gas information. We audit and decide; we do not consult.

Review meeting

The rules a certification body has to publish.

What a body refuses to do tells you more than what it offers.

ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 (clause 8.1) requires a certification body to make specified information publicly available. This is that information, written as rules rather than as marketing.

  • A published impartiality policy
  • A documented complaints process
  • Appeals decided by someone other than the decision-maker
  • Rules for the use of certificates and marks
  • Real status in the register
  • Confidential client information

01 · Impartiality

We identify, analyse and treat threats to impartiality on an ongoing basis; they are reviewed by our Impartiality Committee and the treatment is approved by top management. We declare any relationships with other bodies annually and assess their effect on impartiality.

What we do not accept:

  • Providing management-system consultancy, or preparing greenhouse-gas statements, for anyone.
  • Certifying a system on which a body related to us provided consultancy, or verifying a statement we helped prepare.
  • Marketing our services linked with a consultancy, or suggesting certification is simpler or faster through one.
  • Assigning an auditor to an organization they advised in the last two years.
  • Reducing audit time or changing a decision under commercial pressure.

02 · Complaints

Anyone may complain about our activities or about a client we have certified. Submit in writing to contact@energy-up.co with “Complaint” in the subject line.

01.
Receipt

We acknowledge the complaint in writing and confirm it relates to an activity we are responsible for.

02.
Investigation

Handled by people not involved in the activity complained of; we gather the information needed to validate it.

03.
Decision & reply

The decision is reviewed and approved by someone not involved in the activity, and the complainant is told the outcome in writing.

03 · Appeals

A client may appeal any decision that concerns it — including refusal, suspension, withdrawal or reduction of scope. Appeals are submitted in writing with “Appeal” in the subject line, are never examined by the person who took the decision under appeal, and never lead to discriminatory action against the appellant.

04 · Certificates and marks

  • The certificate and the Global Energy Up mark may be used only for the scope and sites stated on the certificate.
  • The mark may not appear on a product, product packaging, laboratory test report or calibration certificate, or be used in any way that implies the product itself is certified.
  • The ISO logo is not used; ISO develops standards and does not certify.
  • No certificate carries an accreditation mark before accreditation is granted.
  • On suspension or withdrawal, use of the mark and every reference to certification must stop immediately.

05 · Suspension and withdrawal

A certificate is suspended on persistent or serious failure to meet requirements, refusal of a surveillance or recertification audit at the required time, or at the client’s voluntary request. Suspension normally does not exceed six months; if the causes are not resolved within it, the certificate is withdrawn or its scope reduced.

Active

Valid on today’s date, for the scope shown and no more.

Suspended

Invalid for its whole scope during suspension; all claims of certification must stop. Suspension normally does not exceed six months.

Withdrawn

No longer certified; the mark must not be used and references must be corrected.

Scope reduced

Valid only for the amended scope, after excluding what no longer conforms.

Expired

The validity period ended without recertification.

Restored

Reinstated after the causes of suspension were resolved and verified.

06 · Confidentiality

All information obtained during an audit or verification is treated as confidential. It is disclosed only with the client’s written consent or where the law requires, and the client is informed unless the law prohibits it. Everyone working on our behalf is bound to confidentiality in writing.

07 · Certificate register

We keep a register of every certificate showing the entity, standard, scope, sites, dates of certification and expiry, and current status. We confirm these details in writing to anyone who asks through the certificate check.
